A forest fire broke out on 8 June in Pujerra Municipality (west of Malaga Province, Andalusia Region, southern Spain), affecting so far an area of at least 2,100 ha, Department of Homeland Security (DSN) according to Andalusian Forest Fire Extinction Service (INFOCA).
The Government of Spain reported that three people sustained injuries after fire-fighting operations, while mandatory evacuations were issued for people living in Benahavis Town and the surrounding areas.
Firefighting units, including regional and local operation teams, 238 personnel from the Military Emergencies Unit and 50 personnel from the Spanish Civil Guard, as well as 23 planes, have been dispatched to the affected area.
According to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire risk will be up to very extreme danger on 10-11 June, over Malaga Province.
