A series of wildfires have reportedly broken out across northern Spain, among others, in Navarra Province, in Zamora Province, in Zaragoza Province, and in the Provinces of Lleida and Tarragona.
In Navarra Province, several people were preventively evacuated in Sierra of Leyre, as a wildfire event burnt an area of at least 500 ha, as reported by media. According to the Spanish Department of Homeland Security (DSN), the wildfire event in Zaragoza has exceeded an area of 600 ha and has forced the closure of several roads.
The Government of Castile and León reports that the wildfire in Zamora Province has burnt an area of approximately 900 ha.
In Catalonia, firefighting operations are focused on three areas: Artesa de Segre (affecting at least 1,000 ha), Corbera d 'Ebro (affecting about 300 ha), and the Solsonès (100 ha).
Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping was activated on 16 June for Catalonia (EMSR578) and for Navarra (EMSR579). The European Commission's fleet of firefighting aircraft, part of rescEU, will be operational.
