
Forest fires occurred across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region (south-western France), causing evacuations and widespread damage. The forest fires were extended at the South East and burnt about 1900 ha.
The Interdepartmental Crisis Management Operational Centre (COGIC) reports, as of 19 June, around 100 preventively evacuated people due to a forest fire occurred on 19 June in Vielle-Soubiran Commune (Landes Department, south-western Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region). A total of 190 firefighters were mobilized to control the forest fire.
A massive fire forest at the south east in Bauden (Var department) have burnt 900 ha, 310 firefighters were engaged to contain the fire.
Over the next 24 hours, according to JRC European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire danger forecast is expected to remain from low to high across south-western France.
Very high temperatures are forecast over northern Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Meteo France has issued an orange warning for heat wave over northern Departments of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
