A forest fire started burning on 5 August in La Tencon area located in Voreppe Commune (Isère Department, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, south-east France).
According to the Operational Centre for Inter-ministerial Crisis Management (COGIC), about 140 people were preventively evacuated from several localities in the municipalities of Voreppe and La Sure-en-Chartreuse.
More than 270 firefighters supported by four Canadairs and two DASH aircraft were engaged on the spot but operations are hindered by difficulty to access the area. As of 8 August at 6.00 UTC, the forest fire was active.
According to the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), the fire risk is expected to be from very high to extreme on 8 and 9 August over south-east and central-west France.
