Severe weather, including heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms, have been affecting northern Italy (in particular Piedmont, Aosta Valley, Tuscany, and Trentino-South Tyrol Regions) over the past 72 hours, triggering floods and landslides, and causing a number of severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.

Media reports, as of 8 August, one fatality in the Turin area (Piedmont Region) due to a strong wind-related incident.

Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over southern Piedmont, northern Tuscany and western Trentino-South.
