Wildfires continue to particularly affect the Valencian Community (central coast of eastern Spain), resulting in casualties and preventive evacuations, as reported by the Spanish Department of Homeland Security (DSN).
A wildfire in Bejís (Castellón province), affected the train route Valencia Nord - Miraflores, causing injury to twenty five passengers and three firefighters, while preventive evacuations occurred for about 2,000 people in the localities of Bejís, Torás, Teresa, and Sacañet, in addition to the confinement of the village of Viver.
As the wildfire in Vall de Ebo (Alicante province) continues to advance, new evacuations have been carried out in Benimasot village.
According to the European Forest Fire Information System (JRC-EFFIS), the fire risk on 17-18 August, is expected to be mostly extreme over the Valencian Community.
