Monsoon floods displace communities across Ayeyarwady
FLOODS
Situation
Sustained monsoon rain pushed rivers above danger levels across low-lying parts of Myanmar's Ayeyarwady Region. A breached embankment near Myit Kyo Village on 30 July sent water into Laymyatna and surrounding settlements, damaging homes, farmland, roads and public infrastructure. Red Cross reporting identified impacts across 169 villages in Laymyatna, Yegyi and Hinthada townships. About 28,455 people from 8,907 households moved to 28 evacuation sites.
