Situation
Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) Report 17, issued 27 September 2026 at 10:00 JST, records 13 deaths and three people missing in connection with Typhoon No. 25 and associated impacts. The report lists four of the deaths as disaster-related. These are cumulative response figures; the report does not establish that the additional deaths occurred on 27 September.
The earlier FDMA Report 8 snapshot from 22 September recorded five deaths, six missing and 23 injured. The 23 injuries are retained as a dated Report 8 observation, not presented as a current total because this update has not been reconciled to a like-for-like injury count. FDMA Report 15 had reported 12 deaths and four missing as of 25 September, so the latest report adds one to the death total and reduces the missing count by one; the public update does not give a person-by-person disposition.
The typhoon brought record-breaking rain to eastern Japan, triggering floods and landslides, disrupting roads and railways and damaging homes. Evacuation-instruction populations are not counted as actual displacement. Casualty and housing totals remain provisional as local reports are reconciled.
