How the score is calculated

The score starts at 8. It adds points from recorded affected, deaths, displaced and casualty counts, plus terms found in the story title, event type or status. For each count, only its highest matching band is used.

Situation

A DDPM-attributed situation update at 06:00 on 4 October reported 1,171,165 households and 3,262,676 people still affected across 27 provinces and Bangkok, including 154 districts, 1,209 subdistricts and 8,790 villages. This is a later active situation snapshot and is not treated as a correction to the 1 October report of 1,177,404 households / 3,352,395 people affected across 30 provinces and Bangkok. The 4 October report itemizes provincial deaths but does not publish a reconciled national total, so no total is calculated. Earlier casualty series remain separate: DDPM-attributed reports listed 22 deaths on 29 September and 24 on 30 September, Reuters cited the Interior Ministry for at least 23 deaths, and AP separately reported at least 19.

The earlier DDPM snapshot at 06:00 on 28 September recorded 1,793,887 people and 576,449 households affected across Bangkok and 27 provinces, with eight deaths in its retained authority series. Bangkok’s local-government scope remains separate: AP reported about 329,000 households / 700,000 people affected and around 1,500 bedridden patients moved to city hospitals. GDACS FL 1104122 remains a separate national multi-episode aggregate. An ADRC summary citing DDPM reported a narrower 2 October scope of about 582,500 households, 1.81 million people and eight deaths; it is retained as a distinct observation, not treated as a correction to the 1 October snapshot.

A 30 September Reuters report says flood disruption temporarily shut four Toyota plants and suspended Thai Airways cargo operations. The prime minister said Bangkok, its metropolitan area and the central region remained at risk from floodwater moving south from the north; Thailand’s weather agency forecast heavy rain for 5–8 October. No material-supply quantity is inferred from the government’s general relief funding.
