Updated verified snapshot

This record was first dated 2026-09-01 and last verified 2026-09-29T19:30:00Z.

Situation

Bangladesh’s dengue outbreak intensified in September 2026. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded 53,570 people hospitalised and 157 deaths by 14 September. The prior day’s published tally was 51,837 hospitalisations and 149 deaths, so the two dated observations are retained separately. More than 1,200 hospital admissions per day were reported on average during the first 14 days of September. August alone recorded 20,536 hospital admissions and 43 deaths. All eight divisions have been affected, with Dhaka Division the hardest hit. Increasing admissions are placing pressure on health facilities, including bed capacity, clinical staff, blood and platelet supplies. This record does not infer unreported supply quantities or claim a national displacement total.
