Situation
Heavy rain caused flooding, transport disruption and building damage in Dakar and other parts of Senegal after rainfall totals exceeded 100 millimetres at some gauges. GDACS event FL 1104203 covers 27 September to 6 October 2026 and lists a Green alert with two deaths and no displaced-person figure. This is retained as the GDACS national event observation and is not expanded with figures from other reports.
Senegal's Interior Ministry separately reported a provisional toll involving deaths and injuries, particularly in Dakar and Matam, without publishing a precise national count. APS reported two local incident accounts: a 25-year-old mother and her four-year-old son were killed after a compound wall collapsed at Parcelles Assainies in Dakar, attributed to several Senegalese media, while one person was killed and two were injured in a hangar collapse at Gourel Serigne in Matam, attributed to the deceased person's family. These local reports are not added to, or used to revise, the GDACS aggregate. The circumstances of a building collapse in Kaolack remained under evaluation.
The Prime Minister said the Dakar regional emergency plan would be triggered, a monitoring committee established and support organised for affected residents. The government identified sensitive sites including major roads and the Philippe Maguilen Senghor hospital area. No verified national displacement or affected-population total was published in the cited sources, and none is inferred.
