Situation
UNHCR-led Protection and Solutions Monitoring Flash Alert 24 reports that armed clashes and related security incidents in Baidoa continued from 28 September through 3 October 2026. The alert estimates that 934 households, comprising 5,604 people, fled homes and displacement sites in the Wadajir and Berdale neighbourhoods. It says displaced families sought refuge in Berdale, Isha and Wadajir villages within Baidoa, so the movement is retained as displacement within the town rather than a wider regional total.
Bay Regional Hospital and Bayhaw Hospital reportedly recorded 11 deaths and 86 injuries. These casualty figures are attributed to the hospitals as reported by the alert and are not merged with other Somalia casualty series. The alert also reports damage to homes, displacement sites, farmland, schools, mosques and other facilities, together with disrupted access to shelter and essential services.
