Floods Hit Kakheti Region of Georgia

On 29 April 2021, heavy rain, hail, and wind-affected Kakheti Region of Georgia. As a result of the hail and heavy rain agricultural lands and fruit trees have been destroyed. The rain (approx. 120-125mm) suddenly started which caused serious damages in the Municipalities. Through May 1-3, the Local Authorities of the affected Municipalities officially approached the Georgia Red Cross Society with the kind request to support the affected population with the basic food and Hygiene kits. Besides the damages mentioned above, yards, entrances, basements, and first floors of many houses and buildings have been flooded in affected Municipalities. Roofs are destroyed. The Emergency Management Service and all relevant ministries are involved in the liquidation works of the flooding in the affected Municipalities. Based on the information received from the Georgia Red Cross local branch volunteer groups and the local Government In total, 1300 households (3900 people) are affected by the disaster in Lagodekhi, Gurjaani, and Sagarejo municipalities:...
