
Two major wildfires have been burning across northern and southern California, resulting in casualties and damage. The Mill fire in Siskiyou County (northern California) has burnt almost 1,600 ha of vegetation while the Fairview fire in Riverside County (southern California) approximately 4,000 ha.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports, as of 7 September, two fatalities, three injuries, and 900 people under mandatory evacuations in Siskiyou County. In Riverside County, two people died, one has been injured, and more than 12,000 people are under mandatory evacuations.
Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is from high to extreme over most of California.
