Heavy seasonal rains have caused flash floods in several parts of Yemen including the capital Sanaa over the last few days. According to the Red Cross, at least 14 people have died and 3 are missing.

According to a report by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) 3 children died after heavy rain caused the collapse of their family house in the western part of the capital Sanaa. Outside the capital in Sanaa Governorate, 3 people died and 2 were injured after buildings collapsed. Six other victims died after they were swept away by flooding in the Assalafieh district in the governorate of Raymah. Fatalities were also reported in Ibb governorate (1) and Dhamar governorate (1).

IFRC added that heavy rains since June and throughout July affected an estimated 22,077 households (approximately 154,539 people) across wide areas of Yemen. Many of those affected are living in camps for internally displaced people.
