Emergency response teams are actively engaged in efforts to contain a rapidly spreading wildfire in Montitxelvo Municipality, Valencian Community. The fire ignited in the Fondo de Montitxelvo ravine on the afternoon of November 2 and has since expanded, consuming an estimated 1,400 hectares (3,460 acres). Complicating matters, strong winds are currently fueling the blaze, impeding firefighting operations and indicating a potential for further growth in the hours and days ahead.
In response to the escalating threat, local authorities have issued mandatory evacuation orders for several municipalities, including Ador, Castellonet de la Conquesta, Terrateig, and Vilallonga. These orders are affecting a minimum of 600 residents, with the possibility of additional evacuation mandates as wildfire conditions evolve.
It is important to note that the status of nearby roads may change abruptly as authorities evaluate the safety of routes within the wildfire complex. Road closures and community evacuations may be implemented to facilitate response efforts and ensure public safety. Subsequently, traffic disruptions are expected when residents are allowed to return, with low visibility due to smoke and potential ashfall causing further delays and congestion in the region. Additionally, power outages are a concern, as fire damage to infrastructure may prompt authorities to cut off electricity in affected areas to support firefighting operations. The situation continues to be monitored closely.
